BUILDING NEW GREEN
WORKSHOP AND HOME

Last winter, I decided to purchase a vacant 35.5 acre lot just south of where we live now to build us a new home and workshop for Queen of the Meadow.

My idea was to use mainly material that would otherwise go to the landfill. The main structure contains tirebales and lots of recycled bottles, cans, and plastic containers.

This type of building closely resembles the idea of an earthship. We will grow organic herbs inside the shop and create our handmade beauty care products fresh on the spot.

Other important factors I aim to incorporate are the use of sun, wind, and rain. The sun (passive solar) and a PV system will create energy and heat our home and shop. In a couple of years the use of wind will be considered as well.

8,500 gallons of cisterns are already set to catch the rain water, which will get pumped into the building, filtered, and pressurized.

It has been a crazy busy summer between working construction, running the business, and raising my three children.

To make all this happen, my dad is here from Switzerland!
Thank you Fredi!
